Role Overview

The Data Center Technician plays a vital role in safely operating and maintaining essential mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) infrastructure to ensure continuous, reliable 24/7 data center operations. The position involves monitoring power and environmental systems, performing preventive and corrective maintenance, conducting site inspections, and addressing incidents using established procedures. Collaboration with contractors and support for construction, commissioning, and safety compliance are key components.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain all MEP plant and distribution infrastructure safely, adhering to industry best practices and manufacturer guidelines.
• Continuously monitor power and environmental conditions in critical facility areas.
• Execute assigned maintenance tasks per Serverfarm procedures utilizing the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
• Assist in planning and scheduling corrective maintenance activities.
• Supervise and support external contractors to ensure compliance with Serverfarm policies and work rules.
• Respond promptly to site incidents by implementing methods of procedure (MOP), emergency operating procedures (EOP), and communicating status throughout events.
• Adhere to all Change Control policies and procedures established by Serverfarm.
• Perform routine site rounds to identify and report issues to management.
• Participate in construction and commissioning activities under site management direction.
• Comply fully with all applicable local, state, and federal safety regulations.
• Engage in developing and maintaining site procedures, standards, and documentation including MOP, standard operating procedures (SOP), and EOP.
• Work collaboratively with the site team to achieve 100% uptime for critical infrastructure.

Qualifications and Skills Required

• High school diploma, GED, or an equivalent qualification.
• Experience working with mechanical, electrical, or HVAC systems in an industrial setting.
• Proven ability to self-manage and adapt to shifting priorities effectively.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, persistence, and a commitment to accuracy.
