About the Role
As a Customs Broker with FedEx Australia based in Melbourne Airport, you will oversee comprehensive customs clearance processes while ensuring strict compliance, precision, and excellent customer service. This role involves engaging closely with clients, internal operation teams, and governmental authorities to facilitate smooth import and export transactions.
Primary Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit import and export declarations, managing customs procedures from initiation through completion.
- Apply correct tariff classification, valuation, and adherence to Australian customs, quarantine, and relevant regulations.
- Accurately review and interpret shipping and customs documents to guarantee compliance and correctness.
- Offer consultative services including strategies for duty reduction, tariff concessions, and guidance on duty drawback.
- Coordinate and communicate effectively with clients, freight and transport teams, and governmental agencies.
- Handle multiple shipments and meet various deadlines within a dynamic, fast-paced setting.
Qualifications and Experience
- Must hold a valid Licensed Customs Broker certification.
- Demonstrated experience in customs clearance for import and export operations.
- In-depth understanding of Australian customs law, tariff classifications, and valuation methods.
- Exceptional attention to detail paired with accuracy in documentation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with customs, freight forwarding, and transportation teams.
