Job description

Role Overview

As a Customer Delivery Driver for Tesco, you play a vital role as the company's representative directly engaging with customers at their homes. This position involves much more than just driving; it requires a friendly demeanor and a commitment to excellent customer service. The work is physical and varied, with each shift presenting new challenges. Although much of the day is spent working independently, a supportive team of managers and colleagues are available at the base. Pay starts at £14.18 per hour, increasing to £15.45 within the M25 area, with potential for additional payments at some sites. A guarantee of at least 16 hours per week is offered, with roles available from 12 hours weekly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of your van, trays, and working environment to ensure perfect delivery condition.
  • Safely load the van and conduct all necessary checks to confirm it is roadworthy and dependable for daily deliveries.
  • Communicate clearly and pleasantly with customers regarding order modifications, substitutions, or perishable items, processing refunds as needed to ensure a smooth experience.
  • Handle all products carefully, treating each order with the utmost respect to uphold quality and customer confidence.
  • Deliver orders within the scheduled customer time frames, providing warm and genuine service at the doorstep, ensuring customers feel valued and cared for.

Candidate Requirements

  • Ability to foster strong collaborative relationships with colleagues to enhance team morale and service quality.
  • A warm and approachable manner for positive interactions with customers and coworkers.
  • Flexibility and responsiveness to changing customer demands and workplace dynamics both on the road and in the store.
  • Hold a valid full or automatic UK/EU/EEA driving license for a minimum of one year, with no more than three penalty points.
