Position Overview

This role is based at L.B. Johnson Middle School located at 2155 Croton Road, Melbourne, Victoria. The position is a 12-month custodial contract appointment as part of Brevard Public Schools, classified under Grade 15 with a starting wage of $15.85 per hour. The position maintains an 8-hour workday and aims to sustain a clean, safe, and positive educational environment.

Primary Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and safety of school buildings, grounds, and equipment.
• Perform housekeeping tasks, grounds maintenance, and various gardening duties around school premises.
• Operate maintenance equipment relevant to assigned duties with a fundamental understanding of their use.
• Apply chemicals safely and appropriately as required for maintenance tasks.
• Execute tasks under direct supervision with instructions that are specific and subject to close scrutiny during and after completion.

Qualifications and Physical Requirements

• Demonstrated general familiarity with maintenance equipment pertinent to custodial tasks.
• Possession of a valid Florida Driver's License.
• Ability to undertake heavy manual labor involving lifting up to 100 pounds occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds continuously.
• Capability to sustain a heavy workload throughout a normal workday with physical endurance.
