Job Overview
The role is based at Suntree Elementary School located at 900 Jordan Blass Dr, Melbourne, for the 2027 school year under a 12-month contract. The position involves maintaining a clean, safe, and positive environment at the school site with a workday lasting eight hours. The starting pay is set at $15.85 per hour as per the classification and pay plan for classified employees (Grade 15).
Primary Responsibilities
This position entails performing heavy manual duties related to housekeeping, groundskeeping, and maintenance of buildings and equipment throughout the school premises. Tasks include routine cleaning, domestic work, gardening, and use of maintenance equipment under close supervision. The employee is expected to follow detailed instructions and ensure work quality through thorough inspection during and after task completion.
Qualifications and Knowledge
- General familiarity with maintenance equipment used in custodial duties.
- Possession of a valid Florida Driver License.
- Understanding of proper chemical use relevant to the job tasks.
Physical Requirements
The job demands heavy physical effort, including occasionally exerting up to 100 pounds of force, frequently up to 50 pounds, and constantly up to 10 pounds to move objects. The employee must be physically capable of sustaining a demanding workload across a typical workday.
