Job Overview
The Cost Estimation Engineer plays a critical role in preparing accurate and dependable budget projections for construction and operational expenses during the initial design and feasibility study phases.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and justified analyses for each stage of the design process.
- Assess design criteria and material choices relative to the budget, offering necessary recommendations.
- Conduct technical and financial evaluations of bidders during tender submissions.
- Work closely with project teams to ensure cost estimates align with project goals, oversee cost control measures, and identify opportunities to reduce expenses.
- Create and maintain a comprehensive cost database, including benchmarks, vendor logs, and pricing bases.
- Ensure adherence to all construction, safety, security, quality, and environmental policies and procedures to guarantee compliance and deliver high-quality services responsibly.
- Develop precise budgeting and financial planning during project initiation and throughout execution phases.
- Perform in-depth cost analyses and document resource allocation to manage costs efficiently, ensuring timely project delivery that meets both operational and financial objectives.
- Communicate promptly with supervisors or Airport Maintenance Managers regarding airport maintenance issues that need attention.
- Carry out other managerial or operational tasks as assigned by higher management.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required.
- A minimum of five years’ experience in cost estimation, project controls, quantity surveying, or construction cost management, especially within airport or infrastructure projects.
- Professional certifications such as AACE Certified Cost Professional (CCP), PMP, or equivalent project management and cost engineering credentials are preferred.
- Familiarity with cost estimating software and ERP systems like SAP is advantageous.
