Job Overview
This position involves preparing specialty dishes or substituting ingredients when necessary, managing cooking equipment temperatures such as ovens and grills, and properly thawing frozen food items in refrigerators. The role includes ensuring correct portion sizes, garnishing, and food presentation, maintaining food inventory records, and overseeing the quality and quantity of meals produced.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare food according to recipes, quality standards, presentation requirements, and food preparation checklists.
- Make cold dishes as needed.
- Report surplus ingredients to the Head Chef to utilize them for daily specials.
- Communicate with Food and Beverage service staff regarding rejected items and available special dishes.
- Assist management in staff hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, coaching, disciplining, motivating, and leading by example.
- Adhere strictly to company policies and safety procedures; report accidents, injuries, and unsafe working conditions; participate in safety training and obtain required certifications.
- Maintain a clean and professional appearance and protect company property confidentially.
- Anticipate guest service needs and address them proactively.
- Engage in clear and professional communication with colleagues, foster positive working relationships, support teamwork, and respond constructively to co-workers' concerns.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards and expectations.
- Physically able to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods; stretch above head and below knees; bend, twist, and stoop; lift, push, pull, or move objects up to 25 pounds unassisted.
- Carry out other reasonable duties as assigned by supervisors.
Desired Qualifications
- Technical, vocational, or trade school diploma is preferred.
- At least three years of relevant work experience in a similar culinary role.
- Supervisor experience is not required.
- No licenses or certifications necessary.
