Overview
CGI Federal seeks outgoing and experienced Computer Operator I professionals to join their team in Washington, DC. This role demands excellent communication abilities, customer service experience, and teamwork skills to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced setting. The position involves handling highly sensitive and confidential materials, especially related to passport processing and contract management.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate Book Master passport printers under direct supervision, utilizing travel document issuance software and Department of State specified systems.
- Manage personalization printing equipment and conduct quality control checks to identify defects in printed passports.
- Maintain strict control and accountability for all travel documents received and returned.
- Initialize, monitor, and troubleshoot Book Master and travel card printers during print runs, including clearing minor jams and activating workloads.
- Load and remove passport books in input and output hoppers and assign print workloads as required.
- Complete daily, weekly, and monthly production and performance reports to optimize printer utilization.
- Train colleagues in proper operation of passport printing equipment and maintain compliance with internal control regulations.
- Communicate effectively with Systems Administrators and GET Technicians to resolve operational issues, using MS Teams and in-person interactions.
- Adhere to OSHA safety protocols and be capable of standing and walking throughout shifts; frequently lift and carry items up to 45 lbs.
Qualifications and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent education.
- At least four years of demonstrated experience using computers with moderate proficiency.
- US Citizenship mandatory due to government contract requirements.
- Proficient in operating complex computer systems and machinery.
- Moderate knowledge of MS Excel and ability to navigate multiple computer screens.
- Strong hand-eye coordination and ability to perform repetitive tasks accurately under pressure.
- Capacity for multitasking with attention to detail and maintaining politeness in interactions with personnel.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 35-45 lbs, and perform manual tasks such as stacking and reaching.
Desired Knowledge
Familiarity with legal regulations governing the eligibility and issuance of U.S. passports is a plus but not compulsory.
Compensation and Benefits
The hourly wage for this position is $27.27.
