Job Overview
The CNC Machinist plays a critical role in machining and finishing processes for gas turbine parts. Responsibilities include conducting post-braze inspections, operating EDM, steam cleaning, grit blasting, vision inspection, coating polishing, and laser hole clearing tasks. This position emphasizes adherence to safety, quality standards, Lean manufacturing principles, and continuous improvement efforts aimed at enhancing operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and set up machines such as EDM, MKG, CNC equipment, and auto polishers following precise work instructions and quality protocols.
- Interpret technical documents including work instructions, engineering drawings, and quality forms to ensure accurate process execution.
- Document process and inspection results meticulously.
- Inspect components pre- and post-machining and finishing steps to verify they meet specified quality standards.
- Follow standardized work procedures to maintain consistency, safety, and production flow.
- Ensure the workspace complies with 5S organizational standards and safety guidelines.
- Apply Lean manufacturing principles actively to identify waste and support continuous improvements.
- Perform grit blasting operations as necessary.
- Assist in enhancing standard work instructions, visual management, and overall process discipline within the production line.
- Collaborate with the team to improve shop productivity, efficiency, and delivery performance.
- Operate within designated takt time and maintain process flow to meet production targets.
- Utilize shop floor software systems such as ELM and SmartShop effectively.
- Comply fully with company quality policies, safety requirements, and operational standards.
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma, technical college degree, or equivalent practical experience.
- Knowledge of CNC machining, EDM, laser machining, finishing, or similar industrial manufacturing processes.
- At least two years of experience with steam cleaning, grit blasting, and manual or automated coating polishing.
- Minimum two years working with gas turbine components or precision aerospace/industrial parts.
- Experience handling HAAS or similar models of VTB, VTL, VFB, lathe, or milling machines.
