Job description

Position Overview

The Claims Associate at Walmart Canada is vital to maintaining inventory accuracy and enhancing store profitability by handling damaged and returned merchandise per established company protocols. This position collaborates closely with vendors, team members, and customers to obtain accurate credits, control inventory, and ensure smooth operational flow in the store. The role emphasizes meticulous attention to detail and delivering excellent customer service, safeguarding company assets, and supporting a positive environment for shopping and working.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Efficiently scan damaged and stolen products to minimize losses.
  • Prepare and process returns, vendor requests, recalls, and donations by filling necessary documentation and ensuring timely packing and shipment.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of the claims area by adhering to correct procedures for lifting, ladder use, and chemical disposal.
  • Follow company rules to handle damaged and recalled items, keep claims updated, and complete forms for outstanding claims to reduce chargebacks.
  • Complete assigned tasks in the Customer Value Program (CVP) while following current processes and systems.
  • Assist other teams such as Office Support and Direct Store Delivery Associates as needed.
  • Be flexible with work hours, including availability for evening, weekend, and holiday shifts to support store operations.

Challenges and Physical Requirements

  • Manage heavy workloads efficiently in a fast-moving environment, especially during overnight shifts, through proper planning and energy management.
  • Perform physical activities including standing for long durations, bending, and lifting items typically up to 20 lbs and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
  • Carry out repetitive tasks such as stocking and organizing merchandise while maintaining attention to detail and store standards.

Compensation

The starting hourly wage for this role is $16.95.
