Job description
Position Overview
The Claims Associate at Walmart Canada plays a key role in maintaining inventory accuracy and enhancing store profitability by properly managing damaged and returned merchandise according to company policies. Collaborating closely with vendor partners, store associates, and customers, this role secures appropriate credits, controls inventory, and ensures smooth store operations. A combination of meticulous attention to detail and excellent customer service skills is essential to protect company assets while fostering a positive environment for both customers and colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
- Efficiently scan damaged and stolen products to minimize losses.
- Prepare returns, vendor requests, recalls, and donation items, including paperwork completion, packaging, and timely shipping.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized claims area by adhering to proper safety procedures such as correct lifting techniques, ladder use, and chemical disposal.
- Comply with company protocols for handling damaged and recalled stock, update claims promptly, and finalize documentation for older claims to reduce chargebacks.
- Complete Customer Value Program (CVP) tasks according to current systems and processes.
- Support other store teams such as Office Support Associates and Direct Store Delivery Associates as needed.
- Demonstrate flexibility by working various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to meet business demands.
Challenges in the Role
- Manage a high-volume workload effectively, often in a fast-paced, overnight setting, ensuring restocking and recovery tasks are completed accurately and punctually.
- Plan work hours to maintain energy and focus throughout demanding shifts.
- Handle physical demands such as standing for extended periods, bending, and lifting inventory or supplies weighing up to 50 lbs (typically up to 20 lbs), and performing repetitive stocking and organizing tasks with precision.

Compensation
The starting hourly pay rate is CAD 18.55.
