Job description
Position Overview
Cashiers serve an essential function in customer service by delivering prompt, approachable, precise, and secure service. Their duties include processing checkout and return transactions as well as supervising the Self-Checkout zone. They actively pursue product and project knowledge to inform customers and identify additional sales possibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Process checkout and return transactions accurately and quickly.
- Oversee and maintain the Self-Checkout area ensuring smooth operation.
- Proactively acquire product and project knowledge to assist customers and discover sales opportunities.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures to reduce inventory shrinkage.
- For Head Cashiers: assign cashier positions and aid them by expediting price verifications, approving point of sale transactions, and markdowns across various departments including main registers, Self-Checkout, Returns, Pro Desk, Special Services, and Tool Rental.
- Provide initial escalation support for customer concerns and contribute to supervising, coaching, and training of Front End Associates.
- Engage in training new Cashiers and utilize available resources to mentor and improve cashier performance.
Preferred Qualifications
Head Cashier candidates typically have at least one year of prior cashier experience.
