Job description
Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced Bit Welder with expertise in TIG/MIG welding, hard facing, brazing, metal fabrication, and grinding to assist with bit manufacturing operations while strictly adhering to NOV's quality and Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute TIG and MIG welding procedures, hard facing, brazing, and additional metal welding techniques.
- Interpret and comply with technical drawings and engineering requirements.
- Assemble parts in line with engineering blueprints and defined methods.
- Configure and calibrate equipment to ensure precise part alignment.
- Safely lift, position, and secure materials during welding tasks.
- Obtain approval for welding setups from senior operators or supervisors before commencing production.
- Utilize standard measuring tools and inspection methods.
- Conduct manual grinding and hot-work tasks as required.
- Perform operator-level machine upkeep and maintain workplace cleanliness daily.
- Adhere to NOV’s Quality, HSE, and operational policies at all times.
- Provide support across different shifts or during weekend operations when necessary.
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering/Technology, Metal Fabrication, or Welding Processes.
- Vocational training plus a minimum of two years relevant experience or equivalent hands-on expertise.
- Prior exposure to production workflows or light/heavy fabrication is advantageous.
- Capability to read and understand manufacturing drawings and schematics.
- Experience with manual grinding operations.
- Solid understanding of manufacturing shop procedures and best practices.
- Proficiency in English communication.
- Strong team collaboration skills combined with the ability to work independently.
- Awareness of Quality and Health, Safety, and Environment regulations.
