Job description
Role Overview
As an Associate Manager for Procurement specializing in grains such as wheat, corn, and barley, you will lead data-driven procurement initiatives and drive market intelligence for Emigrain & Unipex. The position focuses on optimizing supplier relationships, developing hedging strategies, and supporting the organization in achieving competitive advantages aligned with business goals.
Responsibilities
- Expend approximately 75% effort on generating market intelligence, devising hedging strategies, and correlating these with fundamental commodity analyses.
- Work collaboratively with Supply Chain and Operations teams to formulate and implement purchasing strategies and contracts.
- Apply expertise in futures markets to develop effective hedging solutions for grain commodities.
- Devote around 20% of time to crafting long-term purchasing plans with a proactive approach.
- Identify and capitalize on opportunities to optimize supply chain risk and efficiency aggressively.
- Spend about 5% of effort coordinating with Operations, Supply Chain, and Sales to monitor risks and cost changes that impact pricing and contribution margins.
- Lead and align team resources to deliver on both short and long-term sourcing strategies and meet objectives across locations, plants, and business units.
- Provide expert procurement guidance and support to the team.
- Manage talent development, succession planning, and foster employee engagement within the team.
- Ensure adherence to company Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies and procedures.
- Embody and promote the company's vision and values in all activities.
Qualifications and Skills
- Graduation in Agriculture-related discipline; MBA is preferred.
- 8 to 10 years of practical experience in trading and merchandising commodities.
- Strong negotiation capabilities with a track record of leveraging purchasing opportunities in complex organizations.
- Technical knowledge in purchasing or selling commodity products.
- Strong analytical abilities and business acumen, including financial and commercial insight.
- Excellent communication skills and customer focus.
- Understanding of micro and macro-economic factors affecting commodities markets.
- Ownership mindset with results orientation.
- Effective planning, decision-making, and project management skills.
- Capability to manage self and teams effectively.
- Good grasp of supply chain management principles and trading opportunity identification.
Additional Information
