About the Company
Our client is a well-established design firm with a reputation for delivering exceptional residential and mixed-use projects across Ireland. Specializing in urban developments and large masterplans, they collaborate with prominent developers, local authorities, and multidisciplinary teams. Their Galway office is expanding and now seeks an Associate Director to elevate design quality, mentor the team, and lead projects from conception to completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead design development stages including feasibility, concept, planning, detailed design, and construction.
- Manage project teams and coordinate efforts with planners, engineers, quantity surveyors, M&E consultants, and landscape architects.
- Ensure compliance with building codes, including BCAR, Building Regulations, fire certification, DAC, and roles of assigned certifiers.
- Prepare detailed planning submissions and communicate effectively with planning authorities.
- Review technical drawings, specifications, schedules, and tender documentation for adherence to Irish standards and resolve site queries.
- Enhance design efficiency, optimize layouts, elevations, and façades keeping cost and buildability in focus.
- Engage stakeholders, collaborate closely with clients, contractors, and design teams through meetings and workshops.
- Mentor and manage team members, assist with resource allocation, quality assurance reviews, fee proposals, and project scheduling.
- Act as a representative of the practice during client interactions and design evaluations.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Architectural Technology.
- Registration with RIAI or CIAT mandatory.
- Minimum 10 years post-qualification experience, including significant Irish experience on large residential and mixed-use projects.
- In-depth knowledge of Irish Building Regulations, BCAR, fire certification and DAC procedures, planning protocols, and development contributions.
- Proficient with Revit, AutoCAD, and Building Information Modelling (BIM) software.
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects through all phases from feasibility to construction with coordination of contractors and site support.
- Experience in preparing fee proposals, defining scopes, managing risk registers, conducting value engineering, and planning resources and programmes.
- Strong client engagement skills, report writing capabilities, and team leadership with mentoring experience.
