Job Overview

The Assistant Store Manager plays a pivotal role in coaching and developing the store team to deliver exceptional customer service. You will assist pet owners in selecting appropriate nutrition and products for their pets while working alongside passionate pet care experts. This role offers opportunities for professional development within one of North America's leading pet retail chains.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all team members meet customer service standards and foster positive relationships within the community, including partnerships with organizations such as the Humane Society.
  • Lead employee management activities including recruitment, scheduling, training, task delegation, supervision, and coaching.
  • Enforce adherence to corporate operational standards and procedures by all staff.
  • Handle administrative duties such as placing orders, maintaining inventory, completing store and safety audits, coordinating minor repairs, and managing necessary corporate paperwork.
  • Drive business results by coordinating store staff efforts to meet targets.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  • At least 2 years of experience in customer service and retail store management.
  • A genuine enthusiasm for learning and growth within the pet care industry.
  • Outgoing and friendly demeanor with strong customer service capabilities.
  • Availability to work according to schedule requirements, including weekends and evenings.
  • Reliable transportation to commute to and from the store.
  • Capability to observe and coach team members in sales techniques and superior customer service.
  • Ability to understand and manage team conflicts with proper escalation.
  • Familiarity with Point of Sale (POS) systems.
  • Physical ability to repeatedly lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Prior experience in the pet industry is advantageous.
