Job Overview
We are seeking an Assistant Store Manager for our Sylvan Lake location in Alberta, dedicated to coaching and leading staff to deliver exceptional customer service. You will be part of a knowledgeable team assisting customers—Pet Parents—in finding the best nutritional and care products. This role offers opportunities to grow and develop with one of North America's leading pet retailers.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure staff consistently meet customer service standards while fostering positive community relationships, including partnerships with organizations like the Humane Society.
- Lead and manage store team operations such as recruitment, scheduling, training, task assignment, supervision, and coaching.
- Ensure compliance with corporate operational standards and store procedures among all staff members.
- Oversee administrative duties including order coordination, inventory management, completion of store and safety audits, managing minor repairs, and handling corporate paperwork.
- Drive store staff efforts towards meeting or exceeding business targets.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- At least two years of experience in customer service and retail store management.
- Strong enthusiasm for personal growth and learning within the pet care industry.
- Friendly, outgoing personality with excellent customer service abilities.
- Availability to work required shifts including evenings and weekends consistently.
- Reliable transportation to commute to the store.
- Ability to effectively observe, coach, and provide feedback on sales techniques and customer service performance.
- Capability to recognize and appropriately manage inter-team conflicts, escalating issues when necessary.
- Proficient in using POS systems.
- Physical ability to repeatedly lift up to 50 pounds.
- Prior experience in the industry is advantageous.
Compensation and Schedule
The role offers a starting wage of $18 per hour with expected weekly hours of 35 or more. Additional employee discounts and career-building opportunities in a pet-oriented environment are provided.
