Position Overview
The Assistant Store Manager plays a key role in supporting the Store Manager by managing daily retail operations, enhancing customer experience, and helping meet sales objectives. This position acts as the Manager on Duty when the Store Manager is unavailable.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Store Manager in overseeing operational tasks and managing staff members.
- Assist with merchandising tasks including stocking and unpacking shipments that arrive daily.
- Deliver outstanding customer service and handle escalated customer concerns effectively.
- Provide training, coaching, and ongoing development to team members.
- Conduct cash handling, and perform opening and closing store procedures when required.
- Delegate tasks among team members and ensure that the store is safe and clean.
- Carry out regular performance reviews and give constructive feedback to employees.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and safety guidelines.
- Maintain standards for visual merchandising within the store.
- Take responsibility for recruitment and managing staff performance.
Qualifications and Experience
- At least two years of experience working in retail.
- Minimum of two years in a supervisory or management capacity.
- Flexible availability, including day, evening, and weekend shifts.
- Strong leadership capabilities coupled with excellent communication and decision-making skills.
- Ability to effectively multitask and prioritize duties in a high-paced retail environment.
