Assistant Manager - Maintenance

Role Overview

As Assistant Manager - Maintenance, you will lead engineering maintenance activities, focusing on reliability and uptime of manufacturing equipment and facility infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise maintenance and reliability engineering for manufacturing machinery and building systems.
• Implement preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance schedules to maintain optimal equipment functionality and minimize downtime.
• Conduct Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), lead investigations, and oversee corrective actions for equipment deviations.
• Design and oversee maintenance strategies including PM and PdM optimization along with equipment reliability initiatives.
• Drive Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) efforts to enhance Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and asset use.
• Provide engineering guidance for installation, modification, and project activities, including drafting technical specifications and scope of work.
• Manage equipment lifecycle processes such as commissioning, qualification steps (IQ/OQ/PQ), and decommissioning.
• Assure compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and quality standards, including maintenance documentation obligations.
• Develop, evaluate, and keep up-to-date technical documents like SOPs, risk assessments (FMEA/QRA), and maintenance logs.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Production, Quality Assurance (QA), Quality Control (QC), and external service providers to ensure timely engineering outputs.
• Promote safety culture by conducting proactive safety reviews and adhering to Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 6 to 8 years of practical experience within GMP-regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing settings.
• Proven hands-on expertise maintaining equipment including tablet compression machines, granulation units, and packaging systems.
• Strong comprehension of cGMP protocols, SOPs, and regulatory standards.
• Skilled in Root Cause Analysis, preventive and predictive maintenance practices, and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
• Basic familiarity with automation technology and process control systems preferred.
• Effective communication capabilities and competent in preparing technical documents.
• Ability to juggle multiple responsibilities and work collaboratively across various functional teams.

Preferred Skills

• Experience implementing Total Productive Maintenance and reliability programs.
• Knowledge of equipment qualification processes including Installation Qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification (OQ), and Performance Qualification (PQ).
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and Piping & Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) interpretation.
• Exposure to fire and life safety system maintenance and EHS compliance.
• Understanding of energy efficiency and cost reduction initiatives.
