As part of the Legal, External Affairs and Privacy team, the individual will ensure legal compliance and secure market access by advising on privacy and data protection laws across the EMEA region, including the EU, U.K., Switzerland, and Israel. This senior position involves ownership of projects and programs related to privacy laws throughout product development, customer interactions, and internal functions.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide expert legal counsel on EMEA privacy and data protection statutes such as GDPR, emerging regulations, sector-specific laws, and ongoing legal trends.
  • Advise product and development teams to ensure new and existing products and services comply with privacy requirements.
  • Offer guidance related to clinical trials, research, data analytics collaborations, human resources, commercial contracts, cybersecurity, and other relevant areas.
  • Collaborate with the privacy team to shape strategic, global data privacy initiatives and enforcement practices.
  • Develop and conduct privacy and data protection training programs across the organization.
  • Support management of data subject requests and respond to privacy-related inquiries internally and externally.
  • Engage with professional organizations and establish industry connections.
  • Drive and nurture a company-wide culture of privacy compliance.

Qualifications and Skills Required

  • At least 10 years of experience specializing in privacy law with a focus on GDPR compliance.
  • Licensed lawyer with a law degree (JD or equivalent) and good standing to practice law.
  • Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E) certification mandatory; additional privacy certifications advantageous.
  • Hands-on experience advising diverse teams on digital compliance, data privacy laws, and AI technology assessments.
  • Technology savvy, preferably with experience in life sciences, especially medical devices or product design.
  • Strong analytical capabilities paired with sound risk assessment and problem-solving skills to balance legal risks and business needs.
  • Exceptional communication skills — both verbal and written — to effectively articulate legal guidance and collaborate cross-functionally.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with international stakeholders and various organizational levels.
  • Knowledgeable on technology business frameworks and familiar with information security matters.
  • Experience with project management, compliance oversight, and developing key legal performance indicators is preferred.
  • Capability to mentor peers and deliver training on privacy-related matters.
  • Independent, capable of managing multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while knowing when to escalate issues.
  • Fluent in English and at least one other European language such as French, German, Italian, or Spanish.

Additional Preferences

  • Additional data privacy certifications are beneficial.
  • Fluency in more European languages is an added advantage.
