Job description
Role Summary
The Architect position involves crafting innovative, practical, and sustainable architectural designs for a variety of building and infrastructure projects. This role entails a blend of creative design, technical detailing, project collaboration, regulatory adherence, and on-site support to ensure outstanding architectural outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop conceptual architectural designs, detailed layouts, elevations, sections, and proposals.
- Interpret client briefings, project goals, site specifics, and functional needs into efficient architectural solutions.
- Produce comprehensive architectural drawings, specifications, presentations, construction documents, and schedules.
- Create and assess 2D and 3D digital models using CAD, BIM, and related architectural software.
- Coordinate with engineering disciplines including structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, civil, and landscape architects.
- Evaluate site data, zoning laws, planning constraints, building codes, and relevant legal regulations.
- Choose suitable construction materials, finishes, fixtures, and architectural components.
- Assess designs for aesthetic appeal, functionality, constructability, sustainability, cost, safety, and performance.
- Prepare renderings, visualizations, mood boards, and other design-development presentations.
- Engage with clients, consultants, engineers, contractors, suppliers, and project managers throughout project phases.
- Participate actively in design reviews, meetings, site visits, and client presentations.
- Review technical documents such as shop drawings, material samples, and contractor submissions.
- Conduct site inspections to verify projects conform to approved plans and specifications.
- Identify and resolve design discrepancies, construction conflicts, and quality issues.
- Support troubleshooting of technical problems, design revisions, and construction variations.
- Maintain up-to-date project records, drawing registers, revisions, approvals, and specifications.
- Assist project planning aspects including scheduling, procurement, cost management, and construction administration.
- Apply sustainable design principles emphasizing energy efficiency, environmental impact, and accessibility.
- Utilize advanced tools including BIM coordination, parametric and computational design, digital modeling, and AI-driven technologies.
- Support regulatory processes such as planning applications, permits, and authority approvals.
- Ensure all designs comply with building codes, safety standards, accessibility laws, and professional architectural guidelines.
- Produce technical reports, design evaluations, and project progress updates.
- Monitor project timelines to guarantee accurate and timely delivery of architectural outputs.
- Identify opportunities for enhancing design quality, sustainability, functionality, and project workflow efficiency.
- Drive continuous improvement in architectural standards, documentation quality, and inter-disciplinary coordination.
Qualifications and Skills
- Degree in Architecture (Bachelor's or Master's) or related fields.
- Professional architectural registration or licensure desirable based on location and role requirements.
- Command of architectural design theory, construction methods, materials, and technical detailing.
- Proficiency with software like AutoCAD, Revit, Archicad, SketchUp, Rhino, and similar platforms.
- Familiarity with BIM processes, 3D modeling, rendering, visualization, and digital architectural technologies.
- Strong knowledge of building codes, planning laws, accessibility standards, and construction safety regulations.
- Competence in creating and interpreting architectural plans, specifications, and detailed construction documentation.
- Understanding interdisciplinary coordination with structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and civil engineering disciplines.
- An understanding of sustainable architecture, green building techniques, and energy-saving practices is a plus.
- Experience or knowledge in project management, construction administration, procurement, cost control, and on-site coordination.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder collaboration skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with clients, engineers, contractors, consultants, authorities, suppliers, and project teams.
- Awareness of parametric and computational design, AI-assisted tools, digital fabrication, and modern visualization methods is beneficial.
- Meticulous attention to detail, creative flair, sound technical judgment, and aesthetic sensitivity.
- Effective organizational and time management capabilities.
