About the Role
As an Agent Systems Engineer, you will architect and build the core agent systems powering our product. These systems translate customer objectives into dependable, multi-step execution across diverse tools and external services under real-world conditions including incomplete data, failures, budget limits, and fluctuating demand. You will take ownership of planning, tool interactions, error recovery, and continuous enhancement of agent capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Design agent architectures encompassing planning, reasoning, tool utilization, memory management, and integration with external data and systems.
- Enhance the reliability of long-duration, complex multi-step operations, particularly focusing on error handling and recovery.
- Develop adaptive feedback loops that enable agents to learn and improve from live usage to compound performance gains.
- Create and implement evaluation methodologies that accurately assess agent performance and are resilient to manipulation.
- Balance competing demands involving quality, response time, cost efficiency, and system complexity.
Candidate Qualifications
- A minimum of five years’ experience in building live machine learning or backend systems, including advancing large language model or agent-based applications from early prototypes to production deployments.
- Deep understanding of agent system design, including components such as planning, reasoning, tool orchestration, and memory systems.
- Experience designing robust evaluation frameworks, along with detailed execution tracing and observability solutions to ensure reproducibility of agent behavior.
- Familiarity with OpenAI Responses API, MCP, and the nuances of server-side versus client-side execution.
