Position Overview

The role involves preparing cooking ingredients by portioning, chopping, and properly storing food. It includes washing and peeling fresh produce, measuring and mixing components, and cooking foods according to established recipes and quality guidelines. Responsibilities also include preparing cold dishes and operating various kitchen equipment like ovens, grills, and fryers while testing food to ensure proper doneness. Maintaining food quality throughout preparation is crucial, along with setting up and dismantling workstations and serving food in correct portions using appropriate receptacles.

Sanitation and Safety

This position requires thorough cleaning and disinfection of the kitchen environment, including tables, tools, knives, and equipment. The candidate must check appliance temperatures and ensure food safety standards are consistently met. Adherence to all company safety and security protocols is mandatory, including reporting maintenance issues, accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions to management, and completing required safety training and certifications.

Physical and Teamwork Requirements

The job demands physical stamina to stand, sit, or walk extensively during shifts, with activities involving reaching overhead and below knees, bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Moving and lifting objects up to 25 pounds unaided is required. Effective communication skills and respectful interactions to foster positive team relations are essential, supporting collective objectives and addressing co-worker concerns appropriately.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent G.E.D. is preferred.
• At least one year of relevant experience in a similar culinary role is required.
• No supervisory or management experience is necessary.
• Licenses or certifications are not mandatory for this position.
