The Team and Role
The Core Scribd team manages the user reading experience and revenue-generating Doc Page. Cross-functional collaboration is core, working with other engineers, designers, and product managers, emphasizing clear communication both in meetings and asynchronously. The team is also launching a new Design System for Scribd’s brand.
We are searching for a Senior Frontend Engineer dedicated to developing cutting-edge web product features. This role involves partnering closely with Machine Learning/AI and backend engineers to deliver AI/LLM-enhanced user experiences. The position demands shipping critical frontend code, defining scalable architectural patterns, and collaborating cross-functionally for sustainable improvements.

Experience Required
- Six or more years of professional frontend development.
- Extensive knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript and React.
- Proficiency with Next.js or comparable modern web frameworks.
- Understanding of Microfrontend architectures, monorepos, or shared frontend platforms.
- Expertise with web performance, bundling, and optimization strategies.
- Experience working with backend/platform teams for clean integration patterns.
- Comfort in high-traffic, high-impact production environments.
- Ability to work in shared-codebase environments and collaborate effectively across teams.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, thriving in a remote, documentation-driven setting.
- Highly collaborative mindset involving product, design, and backend teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with migrating or managing large, complex, or legacy frontend codebases.
- Proven record of modernizing production frontend systems beyond greenfield projects.
- Approach to frontend architecture focused as a product for engineers.
- Consideration of performance, accessibility, SEO, quality, and observability as fundamental.
- Commitment to rigorous testing and quality practices enabling safe large-scale migrations.
- Ability to simplify complexity and improve systems consistently.
- A deep understanding of how technical decisions impact developers and users.
Location and Compensation
Eligible candidates must reside in or near select US cities including Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Dallas, Denver, Chicago, Houston, Jacksonville, Los Angeles, Miami, New York City, Phoenix, Portland, Sacramento, Salt Lake City, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, or Washington D.C.; Canadian cities Ottawa, Toronto, Vancouver; or Mexico City in Mexico.
Salary ranges vary by region; in Canada, the expected range is CAD 157,500 to CAD 201,000. Salary considerations include experience, education, skills, and business needs. This role also offers equity ownership and a comprehensive benefits package.
