Job description

Overview

The Platform Administration team collaborates closely with engineering and business units to maintain a secure, resilient, and cost-effective enterprise Snowflake setup spanning Development, UAT, Pre-Production, and Production stages.

Work Environment

This position is part of a global 24x7 rotation involving day, afternoon, and night shifts, acting as the main Level 3 escalation point and ensuring seamless communication across follow-the-sun coverage.

Technical Scope

  • Administration of Snowflake platforms including Multi-Cluster Warehouses, Resource Monitors, optimizing storage and compute resources, Time Travel, Fail-safe, Zero-Copy Cloning, account and organizational management, and replication groups.
  • Implementing Security and Identity Management such as hierarchical RBAC, SCIM-based provisioning, SSO/SAML integrations with providers like Okta and Microsoft Entra ID, network policies including PrivateLink, OAuth, and key pair authentication.
  • Governance and compliance with features including dynamic data masking, row access policies, object tagging for data classification, secure data sharing, plus routine audit logging aligned with ISO 27001 standards.
  • Ensuring platform resilience and integrations through account replication, cross-region failover and disaster recovery, and compatibility with observability and SIEM tools such as Datadog and Splunk.
  • DataOps infrastructure management using Terraform for infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines via GitHub Actions or GitLab, and incident management tools like ServiceNow and Jira following ITIL/ITSM processes.
  • Automation using Python for administrative scripting and REST API interactions, SnowSQL, and shell scripting for automated user lifecycle operations.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and maintain hierarchical RBAC models and identity provider integrations for automated user provisioning through SCIM and SSO with strict enforcement of network access policies.
  • Automate platform administration tasks such as user onboarding, role modifications, and offboarding using Python scripts interfacing with Snowflake REST APIs, and deploy infrastructure changes with Terraform through CI/CD pipelines.
  • Lead the FinOps practice by configuring resource monitors, optimizing warehouse sizing, enforcing auto-suspend/resume policies, and creating chargeback reports while mentoring L1/L2 engineers on platform performance analysis.
  • Act as the primary L3 contact during rotational shifts to manage critical incidents, execute disaster recovery drills, handle vendor support, and configure telemetry exports for real-time monitoring and alerting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.
  • At least 5 years of professional IT/Operations experience with significant focus on Snowflake platform administration and architecture.
  • Demonstrated ability working in a 24x7 rotational shift environment, managing ITIL-compliant change and incident processes using ServiceNow or Jira, including shift handoff documentation.
  • Advanced skills in designing complex RBAC frameworks, SCIM provisioning automation, and enterprise-level FinOps cost control methods.
  • Proficient in Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform and scripting languages such as Python and SnowSQL for administrative automation.
  • Required certification: SnowPro Core; SnowPro Advanced Administrator certification is highly desirable. Additional certifications in Terraform, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), or ITIL 4 are strong advantages.
