About the Company

Qualcomm India Private Limited is recruiting for its Engineering Services Group, specifically for a Layout Engineer position.

Job Overview

The role involves creating block, macro, or chip-level layouts and floorplans in line with project demands, detailed specifications, and design schematics. The candidate will apply knowledge of design manuals, established methodologies, layout components, and fundamental electronics to develop precise designs that fulfill project objectives. They will engage in design analysis, testing, and verification utilizing various tools and techniques to detect and resolve problems, while staying updated on the latest verification approaches. Collaboration with several internal and external stakeholders is expected to synchronize project efforts, provide progress updates, and address challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement physical layouts for analog and RF circuits including floorplanning, placement, routing, and verification.
  • Manage high-frequency RF circuit layouts focused on quality and precision.
  • Provide accurate scheduling and ensure project milestones are met as planned.
  • Identify and debug complex design verification errors in layouts.
  • Mentor junior layout engineers and potentially lead project teams.
  • Understand hierarchical design planning and integration for chip design from both top-down and bottom-up approaches through to tapeout.
  • Develop layouts aware of latchup and ESD protection strategies and capable of handling multi-voltage domain circuits.

Candidate Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related fields with 2+ years of relevant custom layout design experience; OR an Associate's degree with 4+ years experience; OR a High School diploma with 6+ years experience in relevant analog, mixed-signal, RF, or digital design domains.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience with layout design and verification tools such as Cadence, LVS, or rmap.
  • For mid-level (3-5 years) candidates, deep expertise in RF high-frequency custom layout at chip, block, and device levels including LNA, mixer, and VCO.
  • Understanding the impact of layout on circuit performance including speed, capacitance, power consumption, and physical area.
  • Strong communication skills and proven ability to collaborate within teams.
  • Scripting and automation experience will be considered advantageous.
  • Preferred: Experience with Virtuoso XL and Caliber DRC/ERC/LVS verification and debugging tools.
