About PosiTrace
PosiTrace, a founder-led SaaS company, specializes in GPS fleet tracking, AI-enhanced dash cameras, and asset management solutions. We are expanding our reach across Canada, the United States, and Mexico, with plans to grow both geographically and into larger enterprise markets. Our main goal is to increase fleet profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, build, test, and sustain production-grade applications using Ruby on Rails.
- Create scalable backend services and user-facing web applications.
- Develop and maintain API layers and third-party integrations.
- Manage and optimize large relational databases with MySQL and SQL.
- Implement frontend features using Angular and TypeScript.
- Apply test-driven development and automated testing, especially with RSpec.
- Engage in architectural planning to enhance platform scalability and reliability.
- Perform and participate in code reviews to uphold code quality.
- Identify technical debt, resolve performance bottlenecks, and refactor code when necessary.
- Support deployment processes, monitor systems, troubleshoot issues, and ensure production stability.
- Collaborate with Product Management to translate requirements into technical solutions.
- Maintain comprehensive technical documentation and enforce development standards.
- Estimate project timelines, provide progress updates, and handle task prioritization effectively.
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum of five years of professional software development experience.
- Strong, proven expertise in Ruby on Rails development is mandatory.
- Experience delivering and maintaining production SaaS or web applications.
- Solid grounding in object-oriented programming and software design concepts.
- Advanced knowledge of SQL and database engineering with MySQL.
- Professional familiarity with Angular and TypeScript or equivalent modern front-end frameworks.
- Experience with automated test frameworks and test-driven development practices, specifically RSpec.
- Background working with scalable, cloud-hosted production systems.
- In-depth understanding of software architecture, performance tuning, and application scalability.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work independently taking full ownership.
- Willingness to relocate to Vancouver, Canada.
Additional Preferred Skills
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform.
- Knowledge of Redis and Elasticsearch.
- RESTful API design expertise.
- Familiarity with WebSockets.
- Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and Git/GitFlow workflows.
- Experience using observability tools like New Relic.
- Familiarity with Capybara, VCR, or Capistrano for testing and deployment.
- Understanding microservices and distributed systems architecture.
- Experience with high-volume or performance-critical applications.
- Exposure to Agile and Scrum methodologies.
- Experience working with remote or international engineering teams.
