About the Role
Join Dunbia West Devon, one of Europe's top food processing firms, as a Yard Operative. This position involves taking responsibility for maintaining outdoor areas by ensuring they are safe, clean, and orderly. If you appreciate working outdoors with varied daily tasks, this role offers an engaging work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist colleagues across departments as needed.
- Keep the yard area tidy and manage incoming deliveries by directing them to the correct departments.
- Perform related duties in other areas of the company when required.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, health, safety, and hygiene at all times.
- Transfer crates and pallets from the outside shop to the yard.
- Operate a forklift to handle waste bins, load and unload trucks safely.
- Supply production teams with clean bins, trays, and pallets.
- Remove crates and packaging materials from received lorries.
- Wash plastic pallets and transfer them to cold storage when necessary.
- Organize and sort blue and white pallets efficiently.
- Ensure the crate store is adequately stocked for the following day's production.
- Keep external doors closed when not in use to maintain hygiene and safety.
Candidate Requirements
- Demonstrated dependability and strong work ethic.
- Comfortable working outside in all weather conditions.
- Adherence to health and safety protocols is essential.
- Possession of a current forklift license is preferred but not mandatory as training can be provided.
- Ability to work independently while contributing positively to team objectives.
- Good communication skills are necessary.
Working Hours and Compensation
The role operates Monday to Friday from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The hourly pay rate for this position is £12.71.
Additional Information
Applicants must have the right to work in the UK as sponsorship is not offered. This role is located in Hatherleigh, England and requires onsite attendance.
