Job Overview
The Yard Coordinator plays a critical role at the Adelaide branch, ensuring incoming vehicles are managed efficiently from check-in through auction preparation. This role includes inspecting vehicles, cleaning and preserving their condition, managing auction numbering, and providing excellent assistance to customers visiting the site.
Key Responsibilities
- Register and file information on vehicles arriving at the facility for inspection and tracking purposes.
- Thoroughly detail vehicles to enhance their aesthetic appeal and auction value.
- Safely operate passenger vehicles to move them onsite and participate in drive-through auction processes.
- Prepare and set up vehicles for weekly or biweekly auctions, including auction numbering.
- Collect and securely store keys, license plates, and related items from vehicles at the branch.
- Guide visitors by providing directions or connecting them to appropriate personnel for further assistance.
- Perform basic operation of forklifts and loaders as needed.
- Follow all company policies and adhere to safety, environmental, and operational procedures.
- Maintain vigilance regarding potential hazards related to heavy equipment and vehicles within the work area.
- Meet established performance targets on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
- Be open to forklift operation training (may not apply at all locations).
- Engage professionally with customers and site towers, providing supportive interactions.
- Assist with minor vehicle maintenance activities.
- Carry out physical tasks including stooping, bending, standing, and walking for extended periods.
- Work effectively in diverse weather and terrain conditions, both indoors and outdoors.
- Possess general mechanical knowledge of various vehicle makes and models to support operational tasks.
- Collaborate effectively within a team environment.
- Hold a valid driver's license and be capable of operating vehicles when required.
- Apply security, maintenance, and safety protocols to safeguard company and customer property.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment such as safety gloves and glasses.
- Recognize and respond appropriately to unsafe conditions to prevent accidents.
- Comply with regulations related to the handling and storage of hazardous materials.
- Serve as a role model and support others by coaching and mentoring within the team, though not in a formal management capacity.
- Adapt to changing duties according to business needs and demonstrate flexibility to perform additional tasks as required.
Qualifications and Experience
- Two to three years of relevant industry experience.
- Preferred background in equipment rental, construction, or similar fields.
- Forklift operating experience is beneficial.
- Basic skills in automotive repair.
- Competency in using handheld PDAs.
- Willingness to undertake forklift training as necessary.
- Capability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Readiness to work year-round in indoor and outdoor settings, including climbing on and off heavy equipment and trucks.
