About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Workshop Technician to join a reputable commercial vehicle and engineering company based in Bedfordshire. The role offers a competitive salary up to £55,000 per annum depending on experience, along with a profit share bonus, Vitality healthcare benefits, 31 days of holiday, and opportunities for continuous training and career progression within a £40 million turnover company.
The position follows a unique twilight shift schedule from Monday to Thursday, working from 2:30 PM to 1:00 AM, allowing for a four-day workweek.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform major and minor mechanical repairs on specialist trailers and commercial vehicle equipment.
- Conduct servicing, maintenance, and thorough inspections for various trailer makes and models.
- Carry out preventative maintenance, safety checks, and inspections to ensure equipment reliability.
- Engage in welding and fabrication tasks as necessary.
- Keep precise records of repairs, inspections, and vehicle histories.
- Complete relevant documentation and support warranty claim processes.
Candidate Profile
- Previous experience in roles such as Workshop Technician, Mechanical Technician, Engineering Technician, Mechanical Fitter, Vehicle Technician, or similar positions involving maintenance of mechanical or commercial vehicles, agricultural or industrial machinery.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance capabilities.
- Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.
- Practical, hands-on work ethic with attention to detail and a cooperative team spirit.
- Ideal candidates hold a level 3 qualification relevant to the mechanical or engineering field.
Additional Information
The role is based in Bedford but is commutable from locations including Milton Keynes, Leighton Buzzard, Buckingham, Towcester, Northampton, and surrounding areas.
