Trainee Programme Details

The trainee journey begins at Kyagalanyi Coffee Limited in Uganda, but candidates must be prepared for international relocations to different locations globally for rotations and career advancement. This minimum two-year programme offers hands-on experience through core and elective rotations across various coffee business functions including sourcing, production, quality control, trading, logistics, sustainability, and finance. Each trainee works closely with a sponsor and expert mentors to build knowledge and skills necessary to graduate and launch a career within Volcafe.

Candidate Requirements

• A BA or MBA in Business, Finance, Economics, or International Trade from a reputable institute.
• Proficiency with MS Office suite, Excel; Power BI is a plus.
• Strong analytical and research capabilities.
• Fluent English communication skills, both spoken and written.
• A valid driver's license.
• Citizenship or permanent residency of Uganda, Tanzania, or Kenya.
• A valid passport permitting global travel without restrictions.
• Willingness and ability to relocate internationally on short notice for extended periods.
• Flexibility to support variable working hours, including shifts during harvest seasons or special projects.

Preferred Attributes

• Previous experience in commodity trading or agribusiness is advantageous but not required.
• Attributes such as flexibility, determination, commitment, adaptability, humility, teamwork, entrepreneurial mindset, emotional intelligence, and a positive, inquisitive attitude towards learning are desirable.
