Job Overview
The Video Editor role focuses on converting raw recordings, audio, graphics, and other creative materials into refined, compelling, and top-quality videos suitable for diverse platforms including digital channels, corporate communications, commercials, and social media.
Key Duties
- Examining raw footage, scripts, storyboards, sound tracks, and other creative assets to prepare for editing.
- Editing videos following guidelines such as creative briefs, scripts, brand standards, and project goals.
- Choosing and organizing clips to craft engaging narratives featuring smooth transitions and appealing visuals.
- Carrying out cutting, trimming, sequencing, and managing timelines to ensure flow and pacing.
- Synchronizing audio elements including dialogue, music, sound effects, and voiceovers.
- Enhancing visuals through color correction, grading, and exposure adjustment.
- Designing and adding titles, subtitles, captions, lower thirds, logos, and visual effects.
- Producing motion graphics, animations, intros, outros, and branded video components.
- Adapting content for social media, marketing campaigns, web, presentations, and various digital platforms.
- Customizing video formats, resolutions, aspect ratios, and platform-specific requirements.
- Optimizing videos for platforms like YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and Facebook.
- Collaborating with producers, directors, marketing and creative teams, designers, and other stakeholders to align outputs with expectations.
- Participating in creative reviews and integrating client and team feedback.
- Organizing footage and project files efficiently including media libraries and templates.
- Upholding consistent branding, pacing, audio, and production quality across all projects.
- Managing multiple editing tasks and adhering to production schedules and deadlines.
- Selecting and exporting final video files according to technical requirements for various platforms.
- Implementing proper file organization, backups, version controls, and archiving protocols.
- Utilizing professional editing, motion graphics, audio, color grading, and visual effect tools.
- Incorporating emerging technologies such as AI-assisted editing, automatic transcription, generative visuals, and advanced audio enhancement when applicable.
- Resolving technical issues related to video formats, codecs, synchronization, rendering, and export settings.
- Staying updated on emerging video trends, editing techniques, social media styles, and audience preferences.
- Supporting planning and workflow improvements for video production and post-production processes.
- Reviewing finished videos to guarantee technical accuracy, visual uniformity, sound quality, and creative excellence.
- Continuously enhancing editing workflows, storytelling impact, efficiency, and viewer engagement.
Qualifications
- Educational qualifications in Film, Media Production, Digital Media, Communications, Visual Arts, Multimedia, or related disciplines are advantageous.
- Proficient understanding of video editing, post-production, visual storytelling, and content creation principles.
- Expertise with editing software including Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro or equivalents.
- Working knowledge of Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, Audition or similar creative applications is beneficial.
- In-depth awareness of video file formats, codecs, aspect ratios, frame rates, resolutions, compression methods, and export protocols.
- Skill in color correction, grading, sound editing, motion graphics, and visual effects techniques.
- Strong appreciation for timing, pacing, composition, typography, storytelling, and aesthetic elements.
- Experience working with diverse raw footage sources including cameras, smartphones, screen recordings, and animations.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to maintain consistent visual standards across multiple video projects.
- Excellent organizational capabilities related to file and project management.
- Effective communication, teamwork, creative thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Competence in interpreting creative briefs and applying feedback constructively.
- Knowledge about social media content requirements, digital marketing strategies, advertising workflows, and audience engagement approaches.
- Familiarity with AI-powered video editing and generative content technologies is a plus.
- Capability to juggle multiple assignments and meet timelines in a dynamic, creative environment.
- Strong creative decision-making, flexibility, professionalism, and dedication to delivering outstanding video content.
