About the Role
PetsFirst is seeking a dedicated Veterinary Technician to join their team in Dubai. This position is integral in supporting veterinary professionals to provide outstanding care to animal patients. The successful candidate will combine technical expertise, practical experience, and a compassionate approach toward animals to enhance clinical outcomes.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Escort animals from reception to consultation rooms and back efficiently.
- Assist veterinarians during medical consultations and surgical operations including preparation and monitoring of anesthesia.
- Provide preoperative and postoperative supportive care to animals and sterilize surgical instruments post-procedure.
- Collect biological samples such as blood, urine, and feces and perform diagnostic tests under veterinary supervision.
- Administer prescribed medications orally or intravenously as directed by the veterinarian.
- Implement feeding protocols by providing recommended pet nutrition under guidance.
- Clean and maintain boarding and treatment isolation cages to ensure hygiene.
- Collaborate with reception staff by addressing medical-related inquiries from clients.
- Oversee daily inventory management of veterinary products.
Skills and Qualifications
- Possession of a Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification; preference given to holders of MOCCAE veterinary assistant license.
- At least two years’ experience as a veterinary assistant, ideally with background in GCC countries.
- Excellent skills in handling animals safely and compassionately across different sizes and temperaments.
- Competence in administering both medications and routine medical procedures.
- Strong communication abilities for effective interaction with clients, receptionists, and veterinary colleagues.
- Excellent organizational capabilities and attention to detail.
- Physical capacity to lift and restrain animals as necessary.
- Familiarity with veterinary management software and basic office tools.
