About the Clinic

Manukau Veterinary Referral Centre is a small, privately owned clinic located in the heart of Manukau, Auckland. The centre is dedicated to exceptional care focused on surgical cases including orthopaedic and soft tissue procedures as well as advanced dentistry. As a referral-only facility, the clinic emphasizes specialized patient care without the interruptions common in general practice, supported by advanced equipment and a collaborative team environment.

Role Overview

We are seeking a confident, registered or soon-to-be-registered Veterinary Nurse eager to join our team on a full-time basis, five days a week, with no after-hours commitments. This role offers the opportunity to grow your skills extensively as a key member of the clinic’s nursing team. New graduates with enthusiasm and a willingness to learn are encouraged to apply as full training is provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcoming and supporting clients and referring clinics throughout the referral process
  • Managing admission procedures for surgical and dental patients
  • Performing IV catheter placement, intubation, and preparation of patients for surgery
  • Administering and monitoring advanced anaesthesia during procedures
  • Assisting in surgery including scrubbing in
  • Providing post-operative nursing care
  • Carrying out general and dental radiography
  • Maintaining cleanliness and functioning of instruments and equipment

Candidate Profile

  • Deep compassion for animals and dedication to delivering expert patient care
  • Capability to work independently yet collaborate effectively within a supportive team
  • Proactive with strong attention to detail and initiative in task management
  • Excellent communication skills and confident phone etiquette
  • Adept at following both verbal and written instructions
  • A passion for continual learning and skills enhancement
  • Registered with the Allied Veterinary Professional Regulatory Council (AVPRC) or motivated to obtain registration with clinic support
