About Do AI
Do AI is dedicated to making artificial intelligence practical for businesses and startups by transforming AI concepts into actionable solutions. The company divides its focus between hands-on innovation projects with established firms and co-developing proprietary products alongside startups. Operating from Wellington, New Zealand, Do AI fosters a nimble work environment emphasizing genuine client relationships and routine use of AI technologies in its internal operations.
Role Overview
The UX/UI Designer position involves transforming conceptual ideas and client requirements into intuitive user interfaces across various enterprise and startup projects. Collaborating closely with developers, you'll advance rough drafts and wireframes into refined, functional designs prepared for implementation. This role suits individuals early in their design career seeking meaningful hands-on experience, engagement with actual clients, and significant responsibilities from the outset.
Key Responsibilities
- Create user interfaces for both client-driven innovation efforts and emerging startup products such as Spriggo and Homework NZ.
- Develop wireframes, interactive prototypes, and polished design solutions from incomplete briefs and initial concepts.
- Work intimately with developers to ensure designs are practical and implementable.
- Participate in client and founder discovery meetings to capture needs and translate them effectively into design outputs.
- Utilize AI tools proactively to enhance workflow efficiency and design quality.
- Build rapid prototypes for early idea validation before full development.
- Adapt swiftly to different projects, alternating focus between client tools and startup product planning.
Candidate Profile
- An emerging designer with junior to mid-level experience demonstrated through portfolios including internships, freelance, or agency projects.
- Proficient in Figma and knowledgeable in UI design principles such as visual hierarchy, spacing, and consistency.
- Passionate about user experience beyond aesthetics, focusing on usability and user interaction.
- Comfortable working with ambiguous or incomplete specifications and deriving clarity through design.
- Regular user of AI-assisted tools like Claude or ChatGPT in daily work to optimize design processes.
- Aspirational about developing client interaction skills and gradually assuming leadership in design discussions.
Why Join Us
