Job Overview

SSP Canada runs multiple dining establishments within Ottawa International Airport and is looking to hire Utility Workers who ensure all restaurant areas remain spotless and sanitary. Employees play a crucial role in fostering a safe and pleasant environment for guests and fellow staff members.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional guest experiences by consistently cleaning and maintaining hygienic workspaces.
  • Clean all surfaces and restaurant equipment, including floors, walls, ceiling tiles, windows, worktables, vents, grills, refrigerators, service counters, and storage spaces.
  • Collect waste and dispose of it in designated areas.
  • Reset and clear tables in dining areas between guest seatings; transport service ware to the kitchen for cleaning.
  • Remove food residues from dishes, pots, and pans; wash either manually or by loading dishwashers and return items to their appropriate storage locations.
  • Utilize specialized chemicals and equipment to sanitize thoroughly, potentially using heavy-duty machinery.
  • Respond courteously to guest special requests and communicate any needs to servers or supervisors.
  • Unload and stock supplies from delivery trucks and transfer items between storage and operational areas.
  • Manage food stock by checking temperatures, dating, and rotating items to maintain freshness.

Requirements

  • Minimum six months of experience in retail or food service environments.
  • High school diploma is preferred.
  • Proficient verbal and written English communication skills to interact with guests and understand instructions.
  • Experience handling customer service issues effectively.
  • Valid Food Handlers Permit as mandated by law.
  • Possession of relevant brand certification when required.
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and work in confined spaces.

Additional Information

This job operates within a secure airport zone necessitating a Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC). Candidates must have lawful work authorization in Canada and provide government-issued identification to satisfy airport security requirements.
