Job description
Overview
Meta is seeking a User Experience Researcher skilled in mixed methods to influence the design and development of products and experiences used globally. This role entails designing and conducting research that blends qualitative and quantitative approaches to deeply understand users' perspectives, behaviors, and motivations. Collaboration with product, design, and data science teams is essential to convert complex data into practical recommendations shaping product strategies across Meta's platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute mixed research studies that combine qualitative methods like interviews, diary studies, and contextual inquiry with quantitative approaches including surveys and behavioral data analysis to resolve challenging product questions.
- Formulate detailed research plans, select appropriate methodologies, mitigate biases, and rigorously test hypotheses to enhance user experience and product decisions.
- Manage qualitative research projects end-to-end: recruiting participants, moderating sessions, coding, thematic analysis, and synthesizing results.
- Conduct quantitative research by applying statistical techniques and producing reproducible analytic code as necessary.
- Clarify uncertain or conflicting findings into actionable insights that guide product and design strategies.
- Create engaging visualizations and presentations to effectively communicate research outcomes to cross-functional teams including product managers, designers, engineers, and leadership.
- Partner with data science colleagues to merge behavioral data with attitudinal research for a comprehensive user experience understanding.
- Handle research projects of moderate to high complexity, monitoring risks, managing schedules, and updating stakeholders on progress.
- Contribute to team research strategy by identifying knowledge gaps and proposing agendas aligned with product goals over various time horizons.
- Utilize AI tools to enhance research processes like analysis and documentation, ensuring ethical and responsible AI application.
Required Qualifications
- More than 6 years of experience performing user experience research employing both qualitative and quantitative techniques within product development settings.
- Expertise in designing and conducting qualitative methods such as interviews, usability tests, diary studies, and contextual inquiries, with skill applying analytical frameworks to derive themes and insights.
- Proven ability to design and execute quantitative research including survey methodology, statistical analysis, and translating results into actionable product recommendations.
- Experienced in managing cross-functional research projects and effectively communicating research objectives, findings, and implications to product and design teams.
- Proficient with multiple statistical methods and coding languages like Python or R to perform and document quantitative analyses.
Preferred Qualifications
- Track record of integrating AI tools to improve workflow efficiencies and quality of research outcomes.
- Experience implementing responsible and ethical AI practices including risk assessment, bias mitigation, and quality assurance.
- Ability to contribute to team-level research strategy and influence product roadmap planning.
- Skill in combining large datasets from behavioral or telemetry sources with primary research to develop a full user understanding.
- Background in researching large-scale consumer social, communication, or content products with insights into platform impact on behavior.
- Adaptability to research emerging interaction technologies such as augmented reality, virtual reality, and AI-powered experiences.
- Ongoing professional development in AI technologies, including prompt engineering and agent orchestration.
