Job description
About the Role
Waste Connections is seeking a safety-conscious Traffic Management Flagger to join the crew at the West Van Materials Recovery Center in Vancouver, Washington. This full-time onsite position offers a starting hourly wage of $27.00 with workdays from Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM (or until close). The role is classified as safety sensitive.
Key Duties
- Direct customers and commercial trucks safely to designated dump areas through spotting.
- Manage traffic flow by placing and moving signs and cones.
- Maintain cleanliness of equipment including sweeping and power washing.
- Perform general site cleanup tasks as necessary.
- Deliver courteous and helpful customer service at all times.
Qualifications & Requirements
- This position requires passing a background check and drug screening due to its safety-sensitive nature.
- Applicants should have a minimum of two years’ experience in labor-intensive roles, preferably involving similar duties.
- Physically capable of lifting weights up to 75 pounds regularly.
- Experience in operating medium to heavy equipment is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions during entire shifts.
Working Conditions & Physical Demands
- The job entails exposure to varied weather year-round.
- Performs additional assigned duties beyond core responsibilities as needed.
- Requires strenuous physical activities including heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling objects weighing between 50-75 pounds or more.
- Ability to safely operate equipment such as skid steers and forklifts is a plus.
- Knowledge of operating and maintaining light and heavy equipment, along with proficiency in using hand and power tools relevant to the trade, is beneficial.
