Role Overview

The Tour Operator position is a full-time, on-site role at the Addis Ababa office. This role involves planning, organizing, and coordinating comprehensive tours and travel packages. Responsibilities include creating detailed itineraries, managing transportation and accommodation arrangements, handling bookings and reservations, and ensuring all travel documents are prepared accurately. The operator will regularly communicate with clients to understand their preferences, provide destination information, and ensure a seamless travel experience from start to finish. Additionally, the role entails promoting tour packages, supporting sales initiatives, promptly addressing customer inquiries and concerns, and liaising with service providers such as hotels and transport companies to uphold service quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and manage detailed tour itineraries and travel packages.
• Coordinate transportation, accommodation, activities, and other travel logistics.
• Handle bookings, reservations, and prepare necessary tour documentation.
• Respond effectively to client requests, modifications, and special needs.
• Promote tours and assist sales operations to convert inquiries into bookings.
• Maintain communication with service providers to ensure smooth service delivery.
• Resolve customer issues promptly to maintain high satisfaction levels.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Expertise in guided tours and travel & tourism planning and management.
• Exceptional customer service skills with strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience with reservation and booking systems ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Sales skills related to marketing tour packages and converting leads.
• In-depth knowledge of local and international tourism destinations, especially within Ethiopia and nearby regions.
• Proficient in English with strong verbal and written communication; additional language skills such as Amharic are beneficial.
• Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail and ability to multitask.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment while collaborating with teams and partners.
• Computer literacy in email, office applications, and travel-specific booking or CRM software.
• Diploma or degree in Travel & Tourism, Hospitality, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent professional experience in tour operations is also accepted.
