Tooling Technician

Role Overview

The Production & Assembly team focuses on manufacturing, assembling, and packaging products, supporting daily production demands and adapting to evolving business needs. This involves equipment setup, monitoring, maintenance, and process assistance to achieve efficient manufacturing operations.

As a Tooling Technician, you will handle maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of tooling, plant machinery, and manufacturing systems to ensure reliable equipment operation, product quality, and adherence to ResMed's Quality Management System, GMP, occupational health and safety, and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on tooling, molds, jigs, fixtures, and production equipment.
• Assist with setup, calibration, troubleshooting, and optimization of production tooling and equipment.
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, calibration, and equipment performance.
• Help develop and apply methods, procedures, and process improvements to boost manufacturing efficiency and equipment reliability.
• Inspect tooling and production equipment to detect wear, defects, or improvement opportunities.
• Investigate equipment problems and support root cause analysis and corrective measures.
• Collaborate with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance teams to meet manufacturing targets and operational excellence.
• Adhere to quality standards, GMP, safety regulations, and company policies.
• Provide informal guidance to less experienced team members as needed.
• Work independently to prioritize maintenance tasks, minimizing production downtime.
• Participate in continuous improvement programs such as 5S, Lean Manufacturing, and equipment performance enhancement projects.

Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma, Higher NITEC, NITEC, or equivalent technical certification in Mechanical Engineering, Precision Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics, or related disciplines.
• At least 2 years of experience in tooling, manufacturing, production support, maintenance, or related technical fields.
• Experience in preventive and corrective maintenance on manufacturing tooling and equipment.
• Strong ability to troubleshoot and solve technical problems.
• Competence in interpreting technical drawings, maintenance instructions, and equipment documentation.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team.
• Self-motivated and capable of working independently with limited supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in medical devices, pharmaceuticals, precision engineering, or regulated manufacturing environments.
• Knowledge of equipment calibration processes and maintenance documentation systems.
• Familiarity with GMP, ISO standards, and quality management frameworks.
• Experience in mold maintenance, tooling repair, CNC machining, or precision manufacturing equipment.
• Understanding of Lean Manufacturing, TPM, 5S, and continuous improvement practices.
• Ability to analyze data, identify critical issues, and propose practical solutions to enhance equipment performance and manufacturing efficiency.
