About the Role
As a Technical Lead Software Engineer based in our Auckland innovation hub, you will spearhead a dynamic engineering team dedicated to developing scalable, cloud-native solutions tailored to our Veterinary Software platform. Your leadership will focus on addressing complex challenges spanning Clinical, Practice Management, and Client Engagement sectors while ensuring high technical standards and delivery quality.

Our Veterinary Software division specializes in creating a vertical SaaS platform centered on Animal Health. We are rapidly expanding our teams to speed up product development, unify our platforms, and introduce innovative solutions that enhance veterinary workflows and foster meaningful connections between veterinarians and pet owners.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a technical role model and mentor, leading by example
- Design and document scalable, high-impact technical solutions
- Lead the development and delivery of complex, large-scale projects that achieve defined objectives
- Produce clean, maintainable, and scalable code
- Continuously monitor and improve solutions post-release within an Agile framework
- Develop robust unit tests to guarantee code quality and reliability
- Conduct thorough senior-level code reviews enhancing code robustness and consistency
- Refactor core system components to optimize performance and scalability
- Participate actively in strategic technology and architectural conversations
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to solve challenges at scale
- Steer architectural decisions and provide technical guidance within the squad
- Contribute to continuous integration/delivery pipelines, infrastructure automation, and build resilient distributed systems

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Demonstrable success in leading engineering teams to deliver quality outcomes
- Strong expertise in software design, architecture, and hands-on implementation
- In-depth knowledge of object-oriented design, modularity, and design pattern application
- Proven experience with developing, consuming, and evolving modern APIs
- Ability to lead technical initiatives and resolve complex engineering problems
- Experience with Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban
- Solid grasp of cloud computing principles and best practices
- Proficiency with modern web technologies, especially React
- Experience in backend programming languages including Go and TypeScript or other object-oriented languages
- Working knowledge of AWS and other cloud infrastructure services
- Strong background in unit and automated testing
- Track record of enhancing engineering culture and workflows
- Familiar with DevOps practices, event-driven architecture, and containerization technologies
