Our transport sector team helps conceive, lead, and deliver infrastructure projects for cities, regions, and asset operators globally. We cover the entire project lifecycle from business case development and regulatory advice to implementing and maintaining transport infrastructure. We are key contributors to the global transport sector strategy.
Role Summary
Our Gateway Infrastructure team based in London specializes in major transport infrastructure planning and development worldwide. We seek a Technical Director specializing in landside airport planning and development, recognized as an industry expert. This role involves leadership of airport, port, and coastal infrastructure planning efforts, with a focus on landside transport and operational optimization.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead landside development planning for major airport and port infrastructure projects, supporting scheme design and approvals.
- Be acknowledged by clients and the industry as a world-class specialist in landside airport planning.
- Develop expertise across all port air and water landside facilities, including surface transport, cargo/logistics, airport cities, and ancillary support.
- Train and mentor junior staff to build their landside planning capabilities.
- Work collaboratively with transport planners and modellers on surface access capacity analysis and simulations.
- Seek and win new business opportunities to expand airport landside planning services.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, influencing key stakeholders to prefer our consultancy.
- Provide technical leadership and ensure successful delivery of large airport masterplan and development projects.
- Communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders to instill confidence in landside planning principles.
- Mentor project managers and take accountability as Technical Director for project outcomes.
Candidate Requirements
- Extensive experience in port landside planning focused on large-scale infrastructure development programs.
- Knowledge of landside transport facilities, port operations, land-use planning, cargo and logistics, airport cities, and support facilities.
- Proactive, self-motivated with a strong learning mindset and eagerness to adopt new techniques and software.
- Strong relationship-building skills to win new work and become a trusted consultant to clients.
- Ability to lead projects, manage multiple priorities, and foster collaboration and teamwork.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to liaise confidently with clients and teams.
