Project Overview

The Technical Card Systems Expert for Banking will be instrumental in advancing our payment technology initiatives within Qatar's banking sector. This role demands a deep expertise in card processing, issuing, acquiring, and the broader payment ecosystem. The individual will collaborate closely with banking clients, technology partners, payment processors and internal teams to design, integrate, implement, and optimize card and payment solutions.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Provide expert technical guidance across card issuing, acquiring, card processing, payment platforms, and banking technology frameworks.
• Engage with banks and financial institutions to comprehend technical requirements and convert them into viable solutions.
• Contribute to solution architecture, system integration, API/interface design, data flow management, and overall technical blueprint for card and payment projects.
• Lead or assist in comprehensive implementation phases including discovery, requirements gathering, integration, testing, certification, migration, and ensuring production readiness.
• Collaborate across product management, engineering, architecture, cybersecurity, operations, consulting, and account groups to deliver technically robust solutions.
• Identify and manage technical dependencies, risks, and challenges with pragmatic mitigation strategies.
• Provide support for client technology teams and third-party processors during integration troubleshooting.

Knowledge and Experience Required

• In-depth technical knowledge of card issuing, acquiring, transaction processing, payment platforms, APIs, integration architectures, and banking systems within financial services or payment domains.
• Proven experience leading or assisting end-to-end system integrations encompassing requirements, solution design, API/interface specs, testing, certification, migration, and deployment.
• Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot complex technical issues, understand system dependencies and risks, and devise scalable solutions in intricate payment environments.
• Capability to engage and influence senior stakeholders across banking, technology, product, vendors, and internal teams by translating complex technical subjects into clear business-oriented language and actionable advice.

Mandatory Qualifications

• 8 to 10 years of hands-on professional experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related fields; a Master's degree is favorable.
• Previous work within Banking, Digital Payment & Card Solutions, or the FinTech industry is essential.
• Experience working in a fast-paced matrix organization, particularly within the region.
• Fluent English communication skills, both written and verbal; proficiency in Arabic is advantageous.

Preferred Skills and Knowledge

• Ability to analyze data, troubleshoot payment issues, improve processes, and make decisions based on data insights.
• Good grasp of payment systems, digital platforms, workflow architecture, security fundamentals, and typical industry technologies.
• Understanding of regional financial regulations and payment network rules is desirable.

Contract Details

• Contract duration between 6 and 12 months.
• Position based onsite in Doha, Qatar.
