Job description
About the Role
Join the Northern Sydney Local Health District at Northern Beaches Hospital as the first point of contact, delivering professional and prompt responses to all calls to the hospital. This is a temporary full-time position with potential for permanent employment, classified as Telephonist Level 2.
The weekly remuneration ranges from $1279.49 to $1359.36 for a 38-hour workweek. The switchboard operates around the clock on a 24-hour rotating roster. This role offers an opportunity to be part of a passionate and diverse team dedicated to providing excellent healthcare services.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate the hospital switchboard efficiently.
- Handle incoming and outgoing calls with accuracy and professionalism.
- Deliver assistance in a polite, clear, composed manner in all situations.
- Contact relevant staff and emergency teams during critical code calls such as cardiac arrest and trauma.
- Carry out routine clerical tasks as designated by management.
- Provide courteous, timely, and effective service to patients, visitors, staff, and the public interacting via the switchboard.
Selection Criteria
- Proven experience working on a switchboard.
- Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to work various shifts on a rotating 24-hour schedule.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Additional Information
- This role is classified as NSW Health Category A requiring immunization and screening as per the NSW Health OASV Policy.
