Role Overview
The Support Worker - Cleaning plays a vital role in maintaining a safe, sanitary, and comfortable environment for residents and staff by performing routine and scheduled cleaning duties in compliance with standards and protocols.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Carry out daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning activities such as mopping, vacuuming floors, carpet cleaning, damp dusting, removing cobwebs, window cleaning, waste disposal, restocking supplies, and collecting soiled linen and clothing.
- Operate mechanical cleaning devices including carpet cleaners, steam cleaners, and hard floor scrubbers.
- Ensure designated storage areas within the facility are properly stocked with clean linen, towels, and laundry skip bags.
- Record completion of scheduled cleaning tasks in line with established schedules.
Candidate Profile
- Prior experience with cleaning operations including floors, carpets, dusting, and windows is essential.
- Knowledge or experience in safe chemical handling is advantageous.
- Ability to perform cleaning duties following infection control protocols and occupational health and safety guidelines, including proper storage and usage of cleaning chemicals.
- A passion for working within a mission-driven team dedicated to caring for others.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Capability to manage and prioritize workload effectively.
- Commitment to continual quality improvements.
- Previous experience in Aged Care is preferred.
