Job Overview

This full-time Store Driver position in Cornwall, Ontario, involves delivering automotive parts to professional customers safely and efficiently, while supporting sales and customer relations efforts at Advance Auto Parts. The role also includes collecting returns, promoting sales materials, maintaining store cleanliness, and assisting in inventory management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately pick, stage, and deliver automotive parts to professional customers.
  • Collect returns and cores from customers during deliveries.
  • Distribute weekly or monthly sales flyers, promoting ongoing sales and loyalty programs.
  • Collect payments from credit account customers daily.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with MainStreet and National professional customers, providing delivery insights.
  • Support upselling and cross-selling initiatives to boost transaction values.
  • Maintain store appearance including floors, bathrooms, product facing, dusting, and parking lot.
  • Handle general stocking tasks like truck stocking, back stock management, and cycle counts.
  • Stay knowledgeable about current product inventory and new arrivals to assist in sales efforts.
  • Engage walk-in customers by understanding their needs and suggesting suitable parts or services.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support store operations.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Safe driving skills with the ability to navigate delivery routes effectively.
  • Proficient use of a delivery board system and store inventory systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal and persuasive communication skills.
  • Capability to locate and stock automotive parts accurately.
  • Strong safety awareness and knowledge.
  • Customer service focused with sales aptitude.
  • Ability to identify customer needs and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Fluency in English, with the ability to speak and write clearly, and interpret technical documents such as safety instructions, parts catalogs, and manuals.
  • Basic math skills for measurements and calculations relevant to the job.
  • Flexibility to work various days, including evenings and weekends if required.
  • Enthusiasm for learning about new products and sales methods.
  • Preferred previous experience in automotive parts.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Physical capability to perform job duties including frequent walking or standing, lifting up to 50 pounds frequently, and occasional lifting of up to 100 pounds with assistance.

Work Environment

Primarily indoor work with occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions when performing tasks such as battery and wiper blade installation. The role involves exposure to mechanical parts, elevated areas, chemicals, electrical hazards, vibration, and moderate noise levels.

Compensation and Benefits

The starting wage ranges from 1760 to 1885 CAD monthly for new hires, determined by factors such as location, retail experience, automotive knowledge, education, leadership experience, relevant skills, and any applicable shift premiums.
