Storage Specialist

Role Overview

This position entails developing and advising on policies and procedures concerning infrastructure and storage systems. The Storage Specialist evaluates spatial utilization, facility types, maintenance expenses, material characteristics, drawdown factors, and environmental considerations to optimize warehousing flow and efficiency. Emerging technologies are assessed to enhance service delivery, reduce costs, and improve warehouse design.

Responsibilities

• Develop and interpret guidelines for infrastructure and storage management programs, advising relevant staff accordingly.
• Analyze space availability, facility characteristics, and maintenance costs while considering material volumes and environmental effects.
• Evaluate new technologies to design efficient warehousing and logistic flows that cut operation costs and improve customer service.
• Collaborate with distribution units on integrating new processes related to infrastructure and storage enhancements.
• Assess infrastructure capacity and site capabilities related to storage.
• Examine program utilization, identify issues, and suggest corrective measures to management.
• Conduct studies aimed at managerial improvements and offer recommendations based on findings.

Requirements and Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship is mandatory.
• Work involves a fixed tour of duty schedule.
• Position is non-sensitive security-wise but requires meeting specific suitability, fitness, and security standards including background checks.
• Exemption or registration in the Selective Service for applicable male candidates is required.
• Authorized recruitment incentives; no bargaining unit affiliation.
• Compliance with identification policies (REAL ID or equivalent) for federal facility access.
• Pre-employment physical consistent with USCENTCOM protection and deployment policies.
• Position is an unaccompanied overseas assignment lasting 12 months within CENTCOM's area.
• Mission-essential role requiring availability in emergencies including contingencies and evacuations.
• Security clearance and eligibility will require periodic reinvestigations according to DoD standards.
• Qualifications include either: (a) PhD or equivalent doctoral degree, or three years of progressively advanced graduate education; or (b) one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-09 level, involving analysis, management, policy development, and program utilization reviews related to infrastructure and storage.
• Combination of relevant education and professional experience considered for qualification.
• Relevant volunteer work counts towards experience.

Additional Information

• Tour is unaccompanied for 12 months.
• Applicants who reside ordinarily in the host country with permanent legal residency are ineligible under the Status of Forces Agreement.
• Eligible employees may receive pay retention when appointed to overseas roles.
