SRE Tech Lead - Cloud Infrastructure

Overview

The Technical Infrastructure Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team is responsible for managing all infrastructure and related applications. Their purpose is to ensure that production systems can handle a rapidly expanding global user base while maintaining stability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness across systems. Key responsibilities include managing deployments, system capacity, traffic distribution, fault tolerance, disaster recovery, emergency responses, automation, and development of operational platforms.

Role and Responsibilities

As an SRE Tech Lead, you will oversee foundational engineering development for ByteDance infrastructure products and components, aiming to optimize infrastructure operation and maintenance (O&M) architecture and advance automated and intelligent O&M platforms. Employing software engineering and digital intelligence methodologies, you will create structured O&M platforms to address large-scale cluster management challenges. The goal is to offer stable, efficient, and affordable serverless infrastructure for Mid-Platform & Business units, striving to be an industry-leading SRE team.

• Lead and grow a team focused on building scalable, reliable infrastructure platform systems.
• Balance hands-on technical involvement with team leadership duties.
• Guide your team and collaborate with project peers by providing technical leadership.
• Facilitate communication across multiple teams, organizations, and internal and external stakeholders to drive engineering initiatives.
• Champion innovation by introducing new ideas and technologies within your team.

Candidate Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Strong expertise in analyzing and resolving issues within distributed systems.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related technical fields covering software development or systems engineering.
• Proficiency in programming using Python or Golang.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Excellent communication skills with an ability to work collaboratively across data science and infrastructure teams.
• Practical experience in designing, constructing, scaling, and troubleshooting platform solutions.
• Strong skills in code optimization and automating routine processes.
• Familiarity with compute, storage, and database systems, with experience in technologies such as HDFS, object and file storage, key-value stores, table, graph databases, Redis, MySQL, MongoDB, message queues, and Kafka.
• Hands-on experience with containers and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes and Docker, AI operations, big data frameworks (Spark, Flink), serverless functions, RPC frameworks, and service mesh.
