About the Role and Company

Join the Defence Services team based in Wellington as a customer-facing Solution Engineer specializing in tactical communications systems and IT solutions. In this agile role, you will collaborate across multiple technical domains to implement mission-critical software solutions for Defence clientele. Systematic is a leading international vendor of command-and-control (C2) software that supports complex defence and security operations in more than 50 countries worldwide, with proven operational effectiveness.

You will split your time between our Wellington CBD office and customer locations in Upper Hutt, working within a small, expert team committed to deploying our C2 software that facilitates essential operational decision-making. This hands-on position involves deploying, integrating, configuring, testing, and maintaining solutions while actively supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and support C4I software within customer environments to enable tests, training sessions, exercises, and live operations.
  • Manage the setup and evaluation of integrations between C4I products and allied systems including sensors, effectors, and communications infrastructure.
  • Design, develop, and maintain technical solutions aligned with customer needs.
  • Maintain effective communication and coordination among various stakeholders to ensure alignment.
  • Create and deliver technical training programs for customers, system administrators, and end users.
  • Provide Level 1 and Level 2 technical support related to software products, installation processes, integration tasks, hardware, and user queries.
  • Keep abreast of software product roadmaps to optimize benefits for customers.
  • Contribute to project delivery ensuring timelines and scope commitments are met.

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a similarly relevant field.
  • Proven experience with IT infrastructure including Windows, Linux, Android-based OS, Active Directory, database systems, and XMPP chat protocols.
  • Competency in software development with languages such as Java, C#, and JavaScript.
  • Background in deploying applications in cloud and on-premises environments.
  • Familiarity with container orchestration technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, and Rancher.
  • Utilization of Agile project management tools such as Jira to enhance workflow transparency and collaboration.
  • Experience with automation and configuration management tools including Ansible, Chef, and Puppet.
  • Version control expertise particularly with Git.
  • Knowledge about military command information systems, tactical radio devices, radio networks, and ITIL principles is advantageous.

Additional Information

Expect approximately 10 days of travel annually within New Zealand and an onboarding visit to the headquarters in Aarhus, Denmark.

Security Clearance Requirement

Employment within this Defence unit requires either holding or the ability to obtain and maintain a high-level security clearance.
