About the Role
Join Guidewire’s Product Development & Operations team as a Software Engineer on the InsuranceNow product development in Bangalore. This full-time onsite position involves developing secure, scalable, and innovative solutions targeted at the global property and casualty insurance industry, focusing on operational excellence and transformative innovation.
InsuranceNow is an integrated core system combining data analytics and digital engagement to provide comprehensive insurance business functionality. This role is critical in expanding InsuranceNow product development in Bangalore. Candidates new to the insurance domain will receive support from experienced team members to quickly learn and contribute effectively.
Technologies used include AWS, Kubernetes, Java, JavaScript, HTML, relational and analytics databases, the Selenide test framework, CI/CD pipelines, and operational monitoring tools such as GitHub, Teamcity, and DataDog.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze product requirements and translate them into detailed functional designs and software implementations for the InsuranceNow product.
- Collaborate with Information Security teams to uphold Secure SDLC, ensuring designs comply with security protocols and passing all security scans and penetration tests.
- Utilize AI tools to assist with coding, analyze application logs, and identify automation opportunities to enhance code quality and development efficiency.
- Implement product features and develop automated tests with a focus on hands-on coding.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines to streamline InsuranceNow service deployments.
- Ensure scalability, availability, and data security of the product’s services.
- Work closely with Product Operations and Customer Support teams to facilitate superior customer experience.
- Collaborate across cross-functional teams including product management, QA, operations, and domain experts to deliver improvements that boost customer value.

Required Qualifications
- 4 to 5 years of experience in Java and object-oriented programming.
- Understanding of Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, Unit Testing, and related engineering practices.
- Strong knowledge of SQL and relational database concepts.
- Experience optimizing database schemas, SQL queries through query plan analysis, and database server tuning is advantageous.
- Experience developing RESTful APIs and supporting their developer usage is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with AWS Cloud services is a plus.
- Understanding of Single Sign-On (SSO), SAML, and authentication/authorization mechanisms is beneficial.
- Eagerness to learn about the insurance domain; direct insurance experience not required.
